Using heading text as page filename rule
Reply Quote
I have a word document that I convert to a .chm file. The word document contains headins at different levels but with the same heading text. Example:

1. Introduction
1.1 Description
1.2 Purpose
2. Description
1.1 Etc.

When I generate the .chm file, merging at level 2 and look at the resulting .html files and .ini file for referencing the document names I find that the label for Description at heading level 1 has been created as follows:

Description2

If I insert another section with name Description before my chapter 2 the label and index change to:

Description3

I am planning to use the label Description for referencing the .html file dynamically in my project combined with a bookmark. But since my label is not the same as my heading text in the word document and may change when another heading with the same name is inserted this is going to be not very straightforward.

Is there a setting I can change or is this something in the tool. I  would like to have my heading level 1 names as .html file names ideally.

Thanks,
Jeroen

Dear botenj,

Sorry for the too delayed response.

We’ve found a solution to fix the issue.
Please copy the AliasCustomize.Addin attached in a mail we sent to InstalledFolder\Addins\AliasCustomize\ and apply the “FullnameWithPath” option of the addin and try again, thanks.

Any questions please feel free to contact us, thanks.

Best Regards.

I have tried this. The problem persists unfortunately. The reference to the heading at level one still changes when I insert another heading with the same name elsewhere in the document.

Regards,
Jeroen

Sorry, I forgot to tell you should use "Heading text" as the "Page filename rule".
And at the same time, use "Fullname with path" option in "CustomizeAlias" addin.
The filenames will be:
  Introduction.htm
  Introduction_Description.htm
  Introduction_Purpose.htm
  Description.htm
  ...

Sorry, already got that setting. Cannot get it to do what you are saying it will do. Is there somewhere I can upload my settings and document so you can verify if i have all the settings correct?
